ERS connectivity in Norway is becoming mission critical as the country introduces mandatory Electronic Reporting System requirements for its fishing fleet. Norway is taking a major step toward smarter and more sustainable fisheries management. By January 1, 2026, all vessels over 10 meters will be required to use an Electronic Reporting System (ERS) for catch and activity reporting, followed by smaller vessels under 10 meters entering a “soft enforcement” period until 2028. Foreign vessels entering the Norwegian Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) must also report digitally or via detailed logbooks and cannot begin fishing until an official acknowledgement (ACK) is received.
