Peplink connects machines remotely

Industrial operations, such as mining or construction, often occur in remote and hazardous environments, leading to the rise of remotely controlled heavy machinery. Network Innovations provides solutions tailored to the specific needs of such operations.

Challenge

Industrial sites in remote areas often face connectivity issues, which impact workforce productivity and safety. A major manufacturer of unmanned machinery, including diggers, lift trucks, and cranes, relies on remote control technology. To ensure peak performance, they required a robust solution within the trailer housing the command-and-control systems to establish a reliable link to the job site. Without stable network coverage, disruptions could compromise safety and efficiency, creating a need for a strong network solution in these demanding environments.

Solution

The manufacturer collaborated with Network Innovations to deploy a connectivity solution between the trailer and machinery. The BR2 Pro was installed in the trailer and on-site, offering high-speed, multi-WAN internet connectivity. Acting as the central hub, the BR2 Pro bonds multiple connections and optimizes network traffic distribution for better efficiency. Additionally, Network Innovations configured specific connections as backup to enable seamless failover when the primary connection fails.

The BR2 Pro also supports live video streaming from the machinery to the trailer. Cameras installed on diggers provide a clear view of the worksite. The bonded connectivity delivers ample bandwidth for high-quality video feeds, enhancing situational awareness for safety.

Result

With InControl, Network Innovations and the manufacturer can easily manage all Peplink devices and monitor network performance. Using the BR2 Pro with SpeedFusion technology provided fast and secure internet access at the remote site. Workers can confidently operate machinery and seamlessly share vital information across teams.

For sites with even greater connectivity challenges, Network Innovations plans to pair the BR2 Pro with their uLink SIM cards, enabling users to access multiple network operators with a single SIM. Additionally, Peplink’s easy integration with Starlink allows the option to add Starlink’s satellite services for locations without cellular coverage.

''By integrating multiple cellular connections into a single robust link, our client has accurate control of their equipment. This enhanced system ensures seamless communication between the control units and the machinery.''
